У науковій статті розглянуто питання синтаксису зв’язного мовлення; визначено взаємозв’язок речення і висловлення; обґрунтовано, що перетворення речення (абстрактної мовної одиниці, реченнєвої схеми) у висловлення (мовленнєву одиницю) великої ваги набуває змістове членування, істотне для певної ситуації, для відповідного комунікативного завдання. З метою аналізу структурних, семантичних та прагматичних виявів реального мовного процесу, функціонування синтаксичних одиниць у плані комунікативної номінації у тексті введено поняття дискурсивного висловлення, враховуючи сукупність екстралінгвістичних, прагматичних, психологічних факторів. Доведено, що саме з теорією дискурсу найтісніше пов’язується поняття про текстову комунікативну одиницю дискурсивне висловлення – текстове поєднання парцельованих чи сегментованих частин речення або самостійних предикативних одиниць, об’єднаних тематично, що співвідносні з цілісною синтаксичною одиницею – граматичним простим чи складним реченням
