The article is devoted to the study of semantic-syntactic functions of the participle ‘dep’ in the modern Crimean Tatar language. A participle formed with the affix -p has various types of realization in speech:
1) it is the main element of the deuterine constructions, which often, for stylistic purposes, replaces part of related predicates and expresses the action that precedes the main action or accompanies it;
2) сombined with auxiliary verbs it forms analytic forms of verbs;
3) it is used separately as a circumstance in a sentence.
The participle “dep”, formed by adding to the verbal base “de” the polysemantic participial affix -p, increasingly loses its semantic-syntactic function and acquires secondary meanings due to the unique context, namely:
1) by the nature of the lexical meaning of the verb base;
2) the combinability of the participle with the following verb on the lexical-semantic level, the lexical environment of both verbs, and the semantic-syntactic characteristics of the sentence as a whole;
3) the compatibility of the participle with a particular grammatical form within a particular sentence structure.
The main meaning of the participle “dep” – “having said” names an action that precedes or accompanies the main action. After direct speech, the participle “dep” sometimes loses the meaning “having said” and, acquiring an abstract meaning, may fulfil the function of parts of speech, linking direct speech to the author's words. In the postposition of the pronouns “sen” (singular form of pronoun you) and "siz" (plural form of pronoun you), the participle “dep” takes on the meanings “to be on a first-name” and “address someone formally”. After the verb in the first person singular in the imperative, the message of the participle dep with the auxiliary verb "turmaq", which indicates the repetition of the action, takes on the meaning, "almost". Participle “dep” is used to convey a name or title; in indirect speech and compound sentences with a conjunctive object and purpose, it is used as a conjunction; also after first person present tense verbs, participle “dep” indicates an action which, accidentally or intentionally, led to an undesirable result; in some cases dep takes on the meaning "as" and "having accused of smth". Having examined sentences based on Crimean Tatar fiction, we have identified a significant number of semantic-syntactic functions of the participle “dep”. Among the promising areas of research is the study of the participation of the participle formed by the affix -p in the formation of analytic forms of the verb
