The article analyzes the linguistic status of MD-structures with subordinate explanatory-conditional relations in Latin, which are built on the basis of supporting verbs in the modus part with the evaluation word of the state category. It was substantiated that the essence of the modus part is clarified by a conditional dictum component of real or imaginary content and it was found that in MD-structures with subordinate explanatory-conditional relations between modus and dictum parts explanatory-conditional relations are established, expressed by junctionns si if and nisi, nisi non if not. Depending on the correlation of condition and consequence to reality and the subjective assessment of this relationship by the speaker the correlation of dictum and modus in three types of conditional periods were examined: modus realis (method of reality); modus potentialis; modus irrealis (method of invalidity)
