International Journal of Philology

The article is devoted to one of the oldest layers of Ukrainian lexis – zoological terminology. According to the analysis of scientific sources on linguistic and natural sciences, three priority areas of interdisciplinary research of zoological terminology and nomenclature are identified: systematic cooperation of scientists, scientific and pedagogical workers of philological and natural areas, compilation and publication of dictionaries of zoological nomenclature and creation of information retrieval thesauruses. It is emphasized that the development of selected priority areas will crystallize the Ukrainian scientific language in the field of life sciences, ensure the assertion of its own Ukrainian identity through integration into the world scientific and cultural sphere, supporting interactive exchange between national and world science
